why we need understanding?

Psalm 119:144(we need understanding so that we may live)
                144 Your statutes are always righteous; give me understanding that I may live.

              (we need understanding to keep the law and obey)
                34 Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart.
                (we need understanding to learn God’s commands)
                73 Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands.
                (we need understanding so that our prayers can be heard)
169 May my cry come before you, LORD; give me understanding according to your word.
Job 32:8 (The breath of the Almighty gives us understanding)
                8 But it is the spirit in a person, the breath of the Almighty, that gives them understanding.
Pro 2:6(From Lord’s mouth comes understanding)
                6 For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Dan 2:21(The Lord gives wisdom and understanding)
                21 He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.
Jas 1:5(The Lord gives wisdom generously, without finding fault)

Why we need understanding?

How useful are God’s promises in our life

Psalm 119:140(God’s promises are thoroughly tested and are true in our life)
                140 Your promises have been thoroughly tested, and your servant loves them.
Psalm 12:6(God’s promises are flawless, purified like silver and gold which renews our spirit)
                6 And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible,
   like gold refined seven times.
2 Sam 22:31(God’s promises helps us take refuge in God, to be protected)
                31 “As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.
Psalm18:30(God’s promises helps us take refuge in God, so that God can be our shield of protection)
                31 “As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.
Jos 23:14(God’s promises are fulfilling in our life, which will not fail till the end)

Ezra 9:15(God is righteous for He helps us get through everyday)
            15 LORD, the God of Israel, you are righteous! We are left this day as a remnant. Here we are before you in our guilt, though because of it not one of us can stand in your presence.”

             (Having a zeal for His word, helps us obey God’s word)
                136 Streams of tears flow from my eyes, for your law is not obeyed.
                (By not being faithless and loathing, helps us obey God’s word)
                158 I look on the faithless with loathing, for they do not obey your word.
Psalm 106:25 (By not being Grumbling helps us obey God’s word)
                25 They grumbled in their tents and did not obey the LORD.
Isa 42:24(By being not Sinning against God, helps us obey God’s word)
                24 Who handed Jacob over to become loot, and Israel to the plunderers? Was it not the LORD, against whom we have sinned? For they would not follow his ways; they did not obey his law.               
Jos 1:7(Being strong and very courageous and being careful helps us obey all the God’s law)
                7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.

why do we sin and how do we come out of it?

Psalm 51:5(we were sinful from the time we were born)
                5 Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
John 8:34(Everyone sins is slave to sin)
                34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.
Rom 5:21(Jesus gives us victory over our sinful life)
            21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.

Rom 7:14, 23, 25
                (When we are unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin)
                14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.
          (The law of sin works within us makes us prisoner)
            23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me.
            (Thanks be to God, who delivers us through Jesus Christ our Lord)
            25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!
   So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

How do we became as slaves to sin
1)      We were sinful from the time we were born
2)      Everyone sins is slave to sin
3)      When we are unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin
4)      we became slaves to whatever has mastered us
5)      The law of sin works within us makes us prisoner of sin
How do get out from the slavery of sin
1)      Jesus gives us victory over our sinful life
2)      Jesus gives us life to set us free from the law of sin and death
3)      Thanks be to God, who delivers us through Jesus Christ our Lord

Lord do not let sin rule over us

Psalm 119:133(when we direct our paths according to God’s word, we are not letting the sin rule over us)
                133 Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me.
Rom 6:16(Being slave to sin leads to death)
            16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?


Rom 6:6, 12, 14, 17, 20
                (We should no longer be slaves to sin)
            6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—

            (We should not let sin reign in our mortal body)
            12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.

            (Sin shall no longer be our master)
            14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

            (We used to be slaves to sin, but set free by obeying the God’s teaching)
            17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance.

            20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness.

Gen 4:7(we must rule over sin that is crouching at the door)
            7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

Psalm 34:4(Lord upholds us by answering us and delivering from all our fears)
              4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.     

Psalm 18:35(Lord upholds us with His right hand and by being our shield of saving help)

   your help has made me great.

              (Lord upholds us by carrying us through generations)

Psalm 112:7(when our hearts are steadfast, trusting in the LORD, we will fear no bad news)

                108 Accept, LORD, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws.

                5 I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

                8 My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long.

                105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
Pro 20:27(God’s word makes the our spirit to shed light on our inmost being)
                27 The human spirit is the lamp of the LORD that sheds light on one’s inmost being.
2 Pet 1:19(God’s word is completely reliable, and like a light shining in a dark place)
                19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

                130 The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.
   Pro 6:23(God’s command is a lamp and the teaching on God’s word is light)

                96 To all perfection I see a limit, but your commands are boundless.

                7 The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. 8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

                25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.

Psalm 111:8(God’s precepts are trustworthy and they are established forever)
                7 The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy.
8 They are established forever and ever, enacted in faithfulness and uprightness.
Isa 51:6(God’s salvation will last forever)
                6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath; the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But my salvation will last forever, my righteousness will never fail.
Mt 5:18(Everything in the Law or word of God will be accomplished)
