It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire.

It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire.

Mt 18:8

If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire.

Mt 19:16

16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”

17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”
18 “Which ones?” he inquired.
Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother,’[c] and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’[d]

Mt 19:29

29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife[e] or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.

Mk 3:29

28 Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”

We do have such a high priest who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set by the Lord

We do have such a high priest who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set by the Lord

Heb 8:2

Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being.

Heb 8:6, 10

But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.

10 This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel
after that time, declares the Lord.
I will put my laws in their minds
and write them on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
1 Cor 9:18

17 If I preach voluntarily, I have a reward; if not voluntarily, I am simply discharging the trust committed to me. 18 What then is my reward? Just this: that in preaching the gospel I may offer it free of charge, and so not make full use of my rights as a preacher of the gospel.

We learn the following from the above verses

1)    We do have such a high priest who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set by the Lord

3)    This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel
after that time, declares the Lord.

and write them on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.

4)    If I preach voluntarily, I have a reward; if not voluntarily, I am simply discharging the trust committed to me.  What then is my reward? Just this: that in preaching the gospel I may offer it free of charge, and so not make full use of my rights as a preacher of the gospel.

God established His statues to last forever

God established His statues to last forever

Psalm 119:152

151 Yet you are near, Lord,
and all your commands are true.

152 Long ago I learned from your statutes
that you established them to last forever.

Pro 3:19

19 By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations,
    by understanding he set the heavens in place;

20 by his knowledge the watery depths were divided,
and the clouds let drop the dew.

Pro 8:28

27 I was there when he set the heavens in place,
when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,

28 when he established the clouds above
and fixed securely the fountains of the deep,

29 when he gave the sea its boundary
so the waters would not overstep his command,
and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.

Pro 30:4

Who has gone up to heaven and come down?
Whose hands have gathered up the wind?
Who has wrapped up the waters in a cloak?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is his name, and what is the name of his son?
    Surely you know!

“Every word of God is flawless;
he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

God established the law so that next generation would follow them and would tell their children

God established the law so that next generation would follow them and would tell their children

Psalm 78:5
He decreed statutes for Jacob
and established the law in Israel,
which he commanded our ancestors
    to teach their children,

so the next generation would know them,
even the children yet to be born,
and they in turn would tell their children.

Then they would put their trust in God
and would not forget his deeds
    but would keep his commands.

Psalm 89:2, 4
I will declare that your love stands firm forever,
that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.

You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one,
I have sworn to David my servant,

‘I will establish your line forever
and make your throne firm through all generations.’”

Psalm 103:19

19
The Lord has established his throne in heaven,

    who obey his word.
