1 I love you, Lord, my strength.

2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
    my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,

3 I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise,
    and I have been saved from my enemies.

Psalm 59:8-10

8 But you laugh at them, Lord;
    you scoff at all those nations.

9 You are my strength, I watch for you;

2 Samuel 22:32-34

32 For who is God besides the Lord?

10 See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power,
    and he rules with a mighty arm.
See, his reward is with him,
    and his recompense accompanies him.

and carries them close to his heart;
    he gently leads those that have young.

Amen.

1 Pet 5:2

2 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.

He guides me along the right paths
    for his name’s sake.

John 10:10-15

10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.

    the highborn are but a lie.
If weighed on a balance, they are nothing;
    together they are only a breath.

10 Do not trust in extortion
    or put vain hope in stolen goods;
though your riches increase,
    do not set your heart on them.

11 One thing God has spoken,
    two things I have heard:
“Power belongs to you,

Psalm 78:4-7

4 We will not hide them from their descendants;
    we will tell the next generation
the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,
    his power, and the wonders he has done.

5 He decreed statutes for Jacob
    and established the law in Israel,
which he commanded our ancestors
    to teach their children,

6 so the next generation would know them,
    even the children yet to be born,
    and they in turn would tell their children.

7 Then they would put their trust in God
    and would not forget his deeds
    but would keep his commands.

Psalm 15:2-5

2 The one whose walk is blameless,
    who does what is righteous,
    who speaks the truth from their heart;
3 whose tongue utters no slander,
    who does no wrong to a neighbor,
    and casts no slur on others;
4 who despises a vile person
    but honors those who fear the Lord;

What would please our God Jesus

Hebrews 11:4-6

4 By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.

5 By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.”[a] For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrews 13:15-17

15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. 16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

17 Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.

We learn the following things from the above passage

1) Having faith on God and trusting Him pleases God.

2) Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

3)  Let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name for with  such sacrifices God is pleased.

4) Do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

How can you be pleasing to God

How can you be pleasing to God
---------------------------------------------------

1 Kings 3:9-11

          9 So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”

10 The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. 11 So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice

Psalm 5: 3,4

3 In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;
    in the morning I lay my requests before you
    and wait expectantly.

4 For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness;

Micah 6:6-8

6 With what shall I come before the Lord
    and bow down before the exalted God?
Shall I come before him with burnt offerings,
    with calves a year old?

7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams,
    with ten thousand rivers of olive oil?
Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression,
    the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
    And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
    and to walk humbly[a] with your God.

We learn the following from the above passages

1) Discernment to administer justice pleases God

2) God is pleased with righteousness and not with wicked

3)God required of us to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God.

Blessings we receive by pleasing God

Matthew 11:25-27

25 At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. 26 Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.

27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

Luke 12:31-33

31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.

John 5:20-22

20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed. 21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. 22 Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son

Colossians 1:18-20

18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

1) God can reveal hidden things when we go to Him like little children learning to depend on Him

2)God is pleased to give us the kingdom of God, when we seek first His kingdom.

3) God is pleased with those who give to the poor, which builds us reward or treasure in heaven.

4)God is pleased to give us life to whom He is pleased to give.

5)For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Blessings you receive when God is pleased with you

Exodus 33:12-14(If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you)

     12 Moses said to the Lord, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ 13 If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”

      14 The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Exodus 33:16-18(God can show us His glory by being with us and it pleases Him)
             16 How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”

17 And the Lord said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.”

18 Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”

Numbers 14:7-9 (If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us)

“The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. 8 If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. 9 Only do not rebel against the Lord.
