We are to live by the Spirit

We are to live by the Spirit

Gal 5:16, 18, 25

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

Rom 8:2, 4-6, 9, 14

because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you[a] free from the law of sin and death.

in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.

14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

2 Cor 5:17

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a]The old has gone, the new is here!

We learn the following from the above verses

1)  We are to live by the Spirit

2)  if we are led by the Spirit, we are not under the law.

3)  Through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you[a] free from the law of sin and death

4)  In order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, we do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

5)  The mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

6)  For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

Do not let yourselves be burdened by yoke of slavery

Do not let yourselves be burdened by yoke of slavery

Gal 5:1

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Mt 23:4

“The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.

Gal 2:4

This matter arose because some false believers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves. We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you.

We learn the following from the above verses

1)  Do not let yourselves be burdened by yoke of slavery

2)  We were sometimes enslaved by the false teachings

3)  We were sometimes enslaved by accusations from fellow believers and did not realize Christ set us free from all the past wrong doings

We did not know God, when we were slaves to those who by nature are not Gods

We did not know God, when we were slaves to those who by nature are not Gods

 Gal 4:8

Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods.

Rom 1:28

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.

1 Cor 1:21

21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.
