When the
elders laid their hands, the gift was given
1 Tim 4:14
14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when
the body of elders laid their hands on you.
Acts 6:6
3 Brothers
and sisters, choose
seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and
wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them 4 and
will give our attention to prayer and
the ministry of the word.”
5 This
proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a
man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also
Philip, Procorus,
Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism. 6 They presented these
men to the apostles, who prayed and
laid their hands on them.
2 Tim 1:6
6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of
God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but
gives us power, love and self-discipline.
We learn the following from the above verses
1)
Do not neglect your gift, which was given you
through prophecy when the body of elders laid
their hands on you.
2)
Apostles
laid their hands on the seven men chosen and prayed for them
3) For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of
God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
