God did not appoint us to suffer wrath, but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ

God did not appoint us to suffer wrath, but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ

1 The 5:9

For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 The 1:10

The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia—your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it, for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

2 The 2:13, 14

13 But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as first fruits[b] to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. 14 He called you to this through our gospel that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We learn the following from the above verses

1)    God did not appoint us to suffer wrath, but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ

2)    We have turned from idols to serve the living and true God and are waiting on Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath, whom God raised from the dead

3)    God chose us as first fruits[b] to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.

4)    God called us to be first fruits through our gospel that we might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
