we are not to
follow the practices that will ensnare us
Lev 18:3
3 You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you
used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am
bringing you. Do not follow their practices.
Lev 20:23
23 You must not live according to the customs of the
nations I am going to drive out
before you. Because they did all
these things, I abhorred them.
Deut 12:30
29 The Lord your God will cut off before you the nations you are about to invade
and dispossess. But when you have driven them out and settled in their land, 30 and after they have been destroyed before you, be
careful not to be ensnared by inquiring about their gods, saying, “How do
these nations serve their gods? We will do the same.”
Jud 6:10
10 I said to you, ‘I am the Lord your God; do not worship the gods of
the Amorites, in whose land you
live.’ But you have not listened to me.”
We learn the following
from the above verses
1)
we
are not to follow the practices that will ensnare us
2)
we are not to live
according to the customs of the nations that God dislikes
3)
we
are to be careful not to be ensnared by serving other Gods
4)
we
should be listening to God’s word
