Turning from the worthless things to the living God who made heaven and earth

Acts 14:15

¹⁵ “Friends, why are you doing this? We too are only human, like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heavens and the earth and the sea and everything in them.

1 Sam 12:21

²¹ Do not turn away after useless idols. They can do you no good, nor can they rescue you, because they are useless. ²² For the sake of his great name the Lord will not reject his people, because the Lord was pleased to make you his own.

1 The 1:9

⁹ for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, ¹⁰ and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead —Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.   

Mt 16:16

¹⁴ They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

¹⁵ “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

¹⁶ Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

We learn the following from the above verses

1)     Turning from the worthless things to the living God who made heaven and earth

2)     Lord does not reject us, rescues us and makes us His own

3)     Jesus rescues us from the coming wrath

4)     Simon Peter answering Jesus that He is the son of the living God
