Doing Good things and helping others


Disciple named Tabitha was always doing good and helping the poor

Acts 9:36
            36 In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor.

1 Tim 2:10
            10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

Tit 3:8
            This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.

Tit 2:14
            13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

Pro 16:7
            When the Lord takes pleasure in anyone’s way,
    he causes their enemies to make peace with them.

Mt 5:16
            16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

2 Cor 8:21
            21 For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of man.

Eph 2:10
            10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

1 Pet 2:12, 15
            12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
13 Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, 14 or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. 15 For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. 

1 Pet 3:13
            13 Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good?14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats[b]; do not be frightened.”

We learn the following from the above verses

1)     Disciple named Tabitha was always doing good and helping the poor
2)     It is good for us to do good, who profess to worship God
3)     This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
4)      Our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
5)     When we do good Lord takes pleasure in our way
