Jesus has
power to heal the sick and forgive our sins
Mt 9:2, 5, 6
2 Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying
on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Take
heart, son;
your sins are forgiven.”
3 At this, some of the
teachers of the law said to themselves, “This fellow is blaspheming!”
4 Knowing their
thoughts, Jesus
said, “Why do you entertain
evil thoughts in your hearts? 5 Which
is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’?
6 But I want you to
know that the Son of Man has
authority on earth to forgive sins.” So
he said to the paralyzed man, “Get
up, take your mat and go home.” 7 Then the man got up
and went home.
8 When the crowd saw
this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who
had given such authority to man.
Mt 12:31, 32
30 “Whoever is not with
me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.
31 And so I tell you,
every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit
will not be forgiven.
32 Anyone who speaks a
word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the
Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or
in the age to come.
33 “Make
a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will
be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit.
We learn the
following from the above verses
1) Jesus has power to heal the sick and
forgive our sins
2) Jesus forgave the paralyzed man and
healed him
3) Whoever
is not with Jesus is against Jesus, and whoever does not gather with Jesus
scatters.
4) Every kind of sin and slander can be
forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
