Let us make every effort to do what leads to edification

Let us make every effort to do what leads to edification

Rom 14:19

19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.

Rom 15:2

Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.

1 Cor 14:3-5, 12, 17, 26

But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort. Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church. I would like every one of you to speak in tongues,[b] but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues,[c] unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.

2 Cor 12:19

19 Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves to you? We have been speaking in the sight of God as those in Christ; and everything we do, dear friends, is for your strengthening.

Eph 4:12, 29

11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

We learn the following from the above verses

1)  Let us make every effort to do what leads to edification

2)  Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.

3)  The one who prophesies edifies the church

4)  Paul was doing everything to strengthen his dear friends in Corinth

5)  Christ Himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers,  to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up

6)  Talk come out of our mouths should help building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen
