Watch yourself carefully and do not
become corrupt and make yourself idol
Deut 4:15
15 You saw
no form of any kind the day the Lord spoke to you at Horeb out of the fire. Therefore watch
yourselves very carefully, 16 so that you do not become
corrupt and make for yourselves
an idol, an image of any shape,
whether formed like a man or a woman, 17 or like
any animal on earth or any bird that flies in the air, 18 or like
any creature that moves along the ground or any fish in the waters below.
Deut 4:23
23 Be
careful not to forget the covenant of the Lord your God that he made with you; do not
make for yourselves an idol in the
form of anything the Lord your God has forbidden. 24 For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
Deut 6:12
10 When the Lord your God brings you into the land he swore
to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you—a land with large,
flourishing cities you did not build, 11 houses
filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not
dig, and vineyards and olive
groves you did not plant—then when you eat and are satisfied, 12 be
careful that you do not forget the Lord, who
brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
Deut 8:11, 17
11 Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his
commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.
17 You may
say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” 18 But
remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the
ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your
ancestors, as it is today.
