We are children
of promise like Isaac
Gal 4:28
28 Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of
promise.
Gal 4:23
22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave
woman and the other by the free woman. 23 His son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but his
son by the free woman was born as the result of a divine promise.
Eph 1:13
13 And you also were included in Christ when you
heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were
marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until
the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.
Eph 2:12
11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who
are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves
“the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)— 12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ,
excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the
covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far
away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
We learn the
following from the above verses
1) We are children of promise like Isaac
2) When we believed, we were marked in Christ with a seal, the
promised Holy Spirit
3) Holy Spirit is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until
the redemption of those who are God’s possession
4) When we were uncircumcised, we were separate from
Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the
promise, without hope and without God in the
world.
