We were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God

We were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God

1 Cor 6:11

11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Rom 5:1, 9, 16, 18

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!

16 Nor can the gift of God be compared with the result of one man’s sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification.

18 Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people.

We learn the following from the above verses

1)   We were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God
2)   Since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
3)   We have been justified by the blood of Christ
4)   Christ’s righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people

Promise comes by faith, so that it may be guaranteed by grace

Promise comes by faith, so that it may be guaranteed by grace

Rom 4:16

16 Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.

Rom 3:28

28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

Rom 15:8

8 For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews[b] on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed 9 and, moreover, that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written:
“Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles;
I will sing the praises of your name.”

Luke 3:8

8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.

Gal 3:16

16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ.

We learn the following from the above verses

2)  A person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law
3)  Christ has become a servant for us so that promises may be confirmed
4)  Producing fruit in keeping with repentance brings God’s blessings

The righteousness from God has been made known to which the law and prophets testify

Rom 3:21

21 But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.

Isa 46:13

13 I am bringing my righteousness near,
it is not far away; and my salvation will not be delayed.
I will grant salvation to Zion, my splendor to Israel.

Jer 23:6

6 In his days Judah will be saved
and Israel will live in safety.
This is the name by which he will be called:
    The Lord Our Righteous Savior.

Rom 1:17

17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.

Rom 9:30

30 What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, righteousness that is by faith;

we are entrusted with very words of God

we are entrusted with very words of God

Rom 3:1

What advantage, then, is there in being a Jew, or what value is there in circumcision? 2 Much in every way! First of all, the Jews have been entrusted with the very words of God.

Deut 4:8

8 And what other nation is so great as to have such righteous decrees and laws as this body of laws I am setting before you today?

The one whom God commends will be approved

The one whom God commends will be approved

2 Cor 10:18

18 For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.

Gal 1:10

10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

1 The 2:4

4 On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts.

1 Pet 3:4

4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

We learn the following from the above verses

1)  The one whom God commends is approved
2)  If we were still trying to please people, we would not be a servant of Christ.
3)  We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts.
4)  The unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
